What is Neurotransmitter Receptors ?
Neurotransmitter receptors are integral membrane proteins that mediate synaptic transmission. Ionotropic receptors (e.g., NMDA, AMPA, GABA-A) form ion channels, while metabotropic receptors (e.g., GPCRs) activate second messenger cascades. They are major targets for CNS drugs, and mutations underlie epilepsy, schizophrenia and neurodevelopmental disorders.
