What is Neurogenesis & Stem Cells ?
Neurogenesis is the process of generating new neurons from neural stem/progenitor cells, occurring robustly during development and in restricted adult brain niches (e.g., hippocampus). Pathways like Notch, Wnt and neurotrophic factor signaling control stem cell quiescence and fate. Enhancing adult neurogenesis is a strategy for brain repair and cognitive enhancement.
