What is Nutrient Sensing ?
Cells sense and respond to nutrient availability through master regulators like mTORC1 (amino acids, growth factors), AMPK (energy) and GCN2 (amino acid deprivation). These pathways coordinate anabolism and catabolism. Dysregulation drives cancer, diabetes and metabolic disorders, making nutrient sensors key drug targets.
