What is Mitochondrial Function ?
Mitochondria are central organelles for ATP production, calcium buffering, lipid metabolism and apoptosis. Mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in neurodegeneration, metabolic disease and aging. Key processes include oxidative phosphorylation, mitochondrial fusion/fission, and quality control via mitophagy. CRISPR tools enable precise investigation of nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes.
