What is Complement System ?
The complement system is an enzymatic cascade of plasma proteins that opsonizes pathogens, promotes inflammation and directly lyses microbes. It bridges innate and adaptive immunity. Dysregulation contributes to autoimmune, inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases. Complement inhibitors are emerging as therapeutics for conditions like PNH, myasthenia gravis and age-related macular degeneration.
