What is Autophagy & Mitophagy ?
Autophagy is a conserved cellular degradation pathway that delivers cytoplasmic cargo to lysosomes. It maintains homeostasis by recycling damaged organelles and protein aggregates. Mitophagy selectively removes damaged mitochondria. Autophagy can promote cell survival or death depending on context, and its dysfunction is implicated in neurodegeneration, cancer and aging.
