Description
ZNF791 encodes a zinc finger protein of the Krüppel-associated box (KRAB) subfamily. The protein contains a KRAB domain at the N-terminus and multiple C2H2-type zinc finger motifs, characteristic of transcriptional repressors that recruit chromatin-modifying complexes. ZNF791 is involved in transcriptional regulation and may play roles in development and cellular differentiation.

Protein Summary
ZNF791 is a 569-amino acid protein with a KRAB domain (residues 2-75) and 12 C2H2-type zinc finger domains (residues 155-179, 207-231, 235-259, 263-287, 291-315, 319-343, 347-371, 375-399, 403-427, 431-455, 459-483, 487-511). The KRAB domain mediates interaction with KAP1/TRIM28 to repress transcription via histone modification. The zinc fingers are predicted to bind specific DNA sequences. Subcellular localization is nuclear.
