Description

TP53INP2 (Tumor Protein p53 Inducible Nuclear Protein 2) is a stress-responsive gene encoding a nuclear protein that plays a dual role in autophagy and apoptosis. It is induced by p53 and other stress signals, and functions as a coactivator of transcription factors involved in metabolic and autophagic pathways. TP53INP2 is also implicated in cancer progression and metabolic disorders.

Protein Summary

TP53INP2 is a 237-amino acid nuclear protein that contains a conserved DOR domain. It acts as a transcriptional coactivator for PPARγ and other nuclear receptors, promoting autophagy by facilitating the formation of autophagosomes. It also interacts with p53 to modulate apoptosis. The protein is ubiquitously expressed with highest levels in adipose tissue and liver.
