Description
SPON1 (spondin 1) encodes spondin-1, also known as F-spondin, a secreted extracellular matrix protein predominantly expressed in the developing nervous system. It promotes axon growth, guidance, and neuronal migration by interacting with integrins and other cell surface receptors. SPON1 is also implicated in cell adhesion, angiogenesis, and tumor progression. Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms.
