Description
SPANXA2 is a member of the SPANX (sperm protein associated with the nucleus on the X chromosome) gene family, which is expressed exclusively in the testis. The encoded protein is localized to the sperm nucleus and is thought to play a role in spermatogenesis, particularly in the post-meiotic stages of sperm maturation. SPANXA2 may also be involved in sperm–egg interaction and fertilization. Due to its testis-restricted expression, it has been studied as a potential cancer/testis antigen in certain malignancies.

Protein Summary
