Description

SIRPB1 (Signal Regulatory Protein Beta 1) encodes a transmembrane receptor belonging to the signal regulatory protein (SIRP) family. It is primarily expressed on myeloid cells and functions as an activating receptor that promotes phagocytosis and immune cell signaling. SIRPB1 interacts with the ligand CD47 and associates with the adaptor protein DAP12 to initiate downstream signaling cascades. The gene is located on chromosome 20p13 and is implicated in various immune responses and cancer biology.

Protein Summary

SIRPB1 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein with three extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and a short cytoplasmic tail lacking signaling motifs. It associates non-covalently with the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM)-containing adaptor DAP12 to mediate activating signals in myeloid cells. The protein plays a key role in phagocytosis, cytokine production, and cell adhesion. Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms.
