Description
REXO1 (RNA exonuclease 1 homolog) encodes a 3'-5' exoribonuclease involved in RNA processing and degradation. The protein localizes to the nucleus and cytoplasm, and participates in the exosome-independent RNA decay pathway. REXO1 is conserved across eukaryotes and plays a role in ribosomal RNA maturation and turnover of non-coding RNAs.

Protein Summary
REXO1 is a 3'-5' exoribonuclease that processes and degrades RNA substrates. It contains an N-terminal exonuclease domain and a C-terminal domain of unknown function. The protein is widely expressed at low levels, with highest abundance in testis. REXO1 interacts with RNA exosome components and is implicated in quality control of non-coding RNAs.
