Description

MARK3 is a member of the AMPK-related kinase family that phosphorylates microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) such as MAPT/tau, regulating microtubule stability and cell polarity. It also acts as a scaffold in signaling pathways, including the Hippo pathway, and is involved in cell cycle control and apoptosis.

Protein Summary

MARK3 is a 753-amino acid serine/threonine kinase with an N-terminal kinase domain, a ubiquitin-associated domain, and a C-terminal KA1 domain. It phosphorylates tau and other MAPs, regulating microtubule dynamics and cell polarity. It also interacts with STRAD and MO25 to form a complex that activates LKB1, linking energy sensing to cell growth.
