Description
LPCAT4 (Lysophosphatidylcholine Acyltransferase 4) encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of lysophosphatidylcholine to phosphatidylcholine, a key step in phospholipid remodeling (Lands cycle). It is also known as LPEAT2 due to its activity on lysophosphatidylethanolamine. The protein is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum and is involved in membrane lipid homeostasis.

Protein Summary
LPCAT4 is a 534-amino acid transmembrane protein belonging to the MBOAT (membrane-bound O-acyltransferase) family. It catalyzes the acylation of lysophospholipids, preferentially using arachidonoyl-CoA as an acyl donor. The enzyme plays a role in maintaining membrane lipid asymmetry and in the production of signaling lipids.
