Description

IL20RA encodes the alpha subunit of the interleukin 20 receptor, a type II cytokine receptor. This receptor forms a heterodimer with IL20RB to bind IL-19, IL-20, and IL-24, mediating JAK-STAT signaling. IL20RA is involved in immune responses, skin development, and epithelial homeostasis. Dysregulation is linked to inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

Protein Summary

IL20RA is a 553-amino acid transmembrane glycoprotein with an extracellular domain containing fibronectin type III repeats, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic tail with JAK-binding motifs. It heterodimerizes with IL20RB to form a functional receptor for IL-19, IL-20, and IL-24. Upon ligand binding, it activates JAK1/2 and STAT3, leading to gene transcription involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and immune modulation. The protein is expressed predominantly in skin, lung, and immune tissues.
