Aliases PAR3, PAR-3, Thrombin receptor-like 2

Description

F2RL2 encodes protease-activated receptor 3 (PAR3), a G protein-coupled receptor activated by thrombin. PAR3 is expressed on platelets, endothelial cells, and various tissues, playing a critical role in thrombin signaling, platelet activation, and hemostasis. It forms heterodimers with PAR1 to mediate cellular responses to coagulation proteases.

Protein Summary

PAR3 is a 374-amino acid transmembrane receptor with an extracellular N-terminal domain cleaved by thrombin, exposing a tethered ligand that activates the receptor. It couples to G proteins (Gq, Gi) to trigger calcium mobilization, MAPK signaling, and cytoskeletal rearrangements. PAR3 is essential for normal platelet function and vascular integrity.
