Description
CXCL11 (C-X-C Motif Chemokine Ligand 11) is a chemokine gene located on chromosome 4q21.1. It encodes a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family. CXCL11 is a ligand for the chemokine receptor CXCR3 and is involved in chemoattraction of activated T cells, NK cells, and other immune cells. It plays a role in inflammatory responses, viral infection, and tumor immunity.

Protein Summary
CXCL11 (I-TAC) is a 94-amino acid secreted chemokine that binds specifically to CXCR3. It is induced by interferon-gamma and plays a critical role in recruiting activated T cells, NK cells, and dendritic cells to sites of inflammation. The protein structure includes a typical CXC motif with two conserved cysteine residues. CXCL11 is involved in autoimmune diseases, viral infections, and antitumor immunity.
