Description
CRISPLD2 (cysteine rich secretory protein LCCL domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16q24.1. It encodes a secreted protein containing a cysteine-rich secretory protein (CRISP) domain and an LCCL (Limulus factor C, Cochlin, Lgl1) domain. The protein is involved in lung development, craniofacial morphogenesis, and immune modulation. Variants in CRISPLD2 have been associated with non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P) and may influence susceptibility to asthma and otitis media.

Protein Summary
The CRISPLD2 protein (UniProt Q9H0B8) is a secreted glycoprotein of 786 amino acids. It contains an N-terminal signal peptide, a CRISP domain, and a C-terminal LCCL domain. The LCCL domain is implicated in protein-protein interactions and immune modulation. CRISPLD2 is expressed in lung, trachea, and salivary glands, and is thought to play roles in branching morphogenesis, extracellular matrix remodeling, and regulation of TGF-β signaling. Its exact molecular function remains under investigation.
