Description
CEACAM6 (Carcinoembryonic Antigen Related Cell Adhesion Molecule 6) is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family. It encodes a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface glycoprotein that mediates homophilic and heterophilic cell adhesion. CEACAM6 is overexpressed in various cancers, including pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric adenocarcinomas, and contributes to tumor progression, invasion, and resistance to anoikis. It also modulates immune responses by interacting with receptors on neutrophils and T cells.
Disease Associations

| Gastric cancer | High expression associated with lymph node metastasis | PMID: 21532985 |
| Breast cancer | Aberrant expression linked to aggressive subtypes | PMID: 22952190 |

Protein Summary
CEACAM6 is a 344-amino acid GPI-anchored glycoprotein (UniProt P40199) with an N-terminal immunoglobulin-like domain and two C2-set domains. It localizes to the apical surface of epithelial cells and mediates homophilic adhesion. In cancer, overexpression disrupts cell polarity, enhances invasion, and protects cells from apoptosis. It is also a target for antibody-based therapies.
