What is Ion Channels ?
Ion channels are pore-forming membrane proteins that allow selective ion flux across cell membranes, governing electrical signaling in excitable cells and ion homeostasis in all cells. Mutations cause channelopathies affecting the heart, brain and muscle. They are major drug targets for epilepsy, pain, arrhythmia and hypertension.
