What is Lipoprotein Metabolism ?
Lipoprotein metabolism involves the production of VLDL by the liver, its conversion to LDL in circulation, and HDL-mediated reverse cholesterol transport. Key regulators include apolipoproteins, lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) and enzymes (PCSK9, CETP). Disruptions promote atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease, and key nodes are established therapeutic targets.
