What is Lipid Metabolism ?
Lipid metabolism encompasses fatty acid synthesis (lipogenesis), breakdown (β-oxidation) and storage/liberation (triglyceride cycling). Dysregulation leads to metabolic syndrome, NAFLD and cardiovascular disease. Cancer cells often rely on enhanced fatty acid synthesis for membrane biogenesis and energy, making lipid metabolic enzymes attractive therapeutic targets.
