What is Glucose Metabolism ?
Glucose metabolism encompasses the pathways that break down glucose to produce energy (glycolysis, TCA cycle, oxidative phosphorylation) and synthesize it when needed (gluconeogenesis). Dysregulation is central to diabetes, obesity and cancer. Cancer cells often display the Warburg effect (aerobic glycolysis), which is exploited for metabolic therapy development.
