What is Actin Filaments ?
Actin filaments (F-actin) are helical polymers of globular actin that form a major component of the cytoskeleton. They drive cell migration, cytokinesis, endocytosis and maintenance of cell shape. Actin dynamics are tightly regulated by nucleation factors (Arp2/3, formins), severing proteins and crosslinkers. Defects contribute to cancer metastasis, immunodeficiencies and myopathies.
