Cardiac development is a precisely orchestrated process involving progenitor cell specification, heart tube formation, chamber morphogenesis and valve formation. Transcription factor networks and signaling pathways (e.g., BMP, Wnt) coordinate these events. Disruptions lead to congenital heart defects, the most common birth anomaly.
