What is Atherosclerosis & Lipid ?
Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the arterial wall characterized by lipid accumulation, immune cell infiltration and plaque formation. Dysregulated lipid metabolism, especially elevated LDL and defective reverse cholesterol transport, is central to its pathogenesis. Research aims to identify targets for plaque regression and cardiovascular event prevention.
