The HPV mouse model is engineered to overexpress HPV-16 E6 and E7 genes. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of tissue-specific double-stranded DNA tumor viruses that can cause epithelial and mucosal tissue hyperplasia. HPV is primarily transmitted through direct or indirect contact with infected human skin or mucosal tissues. Among the diseases caused by HPV, condyloma acuminatum (genital warts) is a common sexually transmitted disease with high infection and transmission rates. Current research has identified high-risk HPV infection as a necessary factor in the development of cervical cancer, with HPV16 being the most prevalent type found in cervical cancer tissues—detected in up to 50% of cases.
