Description
TMEM205 (Transmembrane Protein 205) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19p13.12. It encodes a multi-pass membrane protein of unknown function but is implicated in cellular resistance to platinum-based chemotherapeutic agents, particularly cisplatin. Overexpression of TMEM205 has been observed in cisplatin-resistant cancer cell lines and in certain tumor tissues, suggesting a role in acquired chemoresistance. The protein is localized to the plasma membrane and intracellular membranes.

Protein Summary
TMEM205 is a 189-amino-acid multi-pass transmembrane protein with no known enzymatic activity. It is predicted to contain four transmembrane helices. The protein is localized to the plasma membrane and may function in drug transport or membrane signaling. Its overexpression in cisplatin-resistant cancer cells suggests a role in modulating cellular response to platinum-based chemotherapy.
