Description

The AK6 gene encodes adenylate kinase 6, a member of the adenylate kinase family that catalyzes the reversible transfer of phosphate groups among adenine nucleotides. This enzyme plays a key role in cellular energy homeostasis and nucleotide metabolism. AK6 is also known as coilin-interacting nuclear ATPase protein (CINAP) and is involved in nuclear functions including RNA processing and Cajal body maintenance.
