Description

ACTR1B encodes ARP1, a minor actin-related protein that is a core component of the dynactin complex. Dynactin binds to both microtubules and cytoplasmic dynein, linking dynein to cargo and enhancing its processivity. ARP1 forms a short actin-like filament within dynactin that is essential for dynein-mediated retrograde transport of vesicles, organelles, and macromolecules along microtubules.
